HeLLo & happy 2008!!

Just wondering if anyone can suggest artists that are working in electronic music that brings together the complexity of psychedelic sounds with the simplicity of electro....?

I'm asking because one of our members of 6362MetaForce - Zoe Wheeling'z - will be releasing her first EP via www.6362MetaForce.net in the next weeks, and it really calls out for "psy electro" classification - - it's definitely not psytrance, and it's more upbeat than psychill - it really is 'dance' music but with a little psy twist.

I don't even know if 'psy-electro' exists as a subgenre of electronica.... so i thought this might be a good place to ask. i love Zoe Wheeling'z sounds and we are looking forward to putting her work out - but after hearing her new stuff, now i'm hungry for more of the same!!

Any suggestions??

This is where the power of the DJ comes in, i.e., the DJ could play an electro track and mix it with a psy track. SHAZAM - Psy Electro!!!

A producer would have it even easier since there wouldn't be any tempo matching concerns.

Either way, anything can happen, and it does. The problem is only the lack of imagine of DJs and producers.

All subgenres exist. Don't let words limit sounds.

thanx for the response, Scott - and i absolutely agree with you that good DJs are artists themselves ....Creating mixes of your own and a placing them within a full journey is definitely a unique talent. I also DJ chill-out and I play live flute in the mix (check out sukush.podomatic.com).... what's more, even the artist i spoke about on this thread - Zoe Wheeling'z - sings vocals over her sets.... So I am 100% with u on the importance of talented DJs who take their art seriously!! - - and i will check out your mix for sure......

... but do any producers come to mind?

And - don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to create a new sub-category of music that will slot musical growth & collaboration into yet another filing drawer. But "psy-electro" is all i can think to call what i've just heard; but if there's another name for it, that's fine by me - - ..... and i'd still love any suggestions of artists making it...!!!

Can't say that I've really heard any. I take that back, and add - I haven't heard any that's standard setting. Plenty coming out of Chicago and New York, but it's not as refined as I think it can be, nor that "psy" sounding.

You may be onto something here :-)
